Ranch History
The Enduring Tradition of the Firehole Ranch [2 MB PDF]
By Will Genge
Will Genge writes a fascinating piece for the 2009 inaugural issue of Montana Historian that details the rich history of Firehole Ranch, a member of the National Register of Historic Places. Genge tells of the milestones that took the Firehole from a working ranch founded in the 1890’s by George S. Watkins to a dude ranch started by Clarence “Clix” and Leila Wright in 1944 and finally to the present day operations as a premier fly fishing lodge in the Greater Yellowstone area, Montana.
